What is Self-care?
Self-care means taking the time to do things in life that you enjoy and taking care of yourself. As a mental health counselor, I must practice self-care on a regular basis to prevent burnout. In this blog, I will share 25 self- care ideas that you can do to take care of your mental health.

Journal – this is my favorite and practice this daily.

Listen to music -Find some relaxing music to listen to.

Give yourself a facial – I like the charcoal mask.

Sleep in- Make sure you get plenty of rest.

Watch a wholesome movie – Amazon or Netflix

I love these ideas. I try to do most of my self care in the mornings. It usually takes 1.5hours but amazingly when I take that time I can accomplish more in the day. However I’m learning my biggest self care lately is simply saying “no.”
That’s more things than hours in the day. Who has time for all that? But if I could just do some of them then maybe I could sleep at night!
Getting enough sleep is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves.
These are great! My favorites are any that involve being outside in nature.

Great ideas. I love taking a hot bath. I find that releases stress for me.
Great suggestions! I love self care it’s so important. I take 1.5 hours first thing in the morning and about 30min right before bed for self care. It sounds like a lot but when I skip them I’m not as productive. Sounds weird but I get more done when I take the time for self care. My most important one right now is to say “No”.
Good for you. Saying no is practicing self-care.
What a great list. Hard to pick my favorites but I do love a good face mask while taking a bath followed by some meditation.

This is a great list. One that I have to add to my own list, related to setting boundaries, sort of, is to ask for help. If I don’t, I get out of the habit of asking for it and take on too much.
